Most full timers downunder are pretty laid back lot when if comes to driving.
When you consider the state of NSW is bigger than Texas. What's the hurry to get somewhere else, we do not have an interstate system like the U.S so most country roads are two lane blacktops which sort of forces you to slow the pace down.
Really the only ones here needing to travel long distance are the weekend warriors who work full time trying to get somewhere for a weekend away and just travel between the two big cities.
I myself drive depending how far and where the next job is (it could be 100 or 500 miles) but will always give myself a couple of weeks off between jobs where I need to stay onsite. There's no rush to get there.
Googlemaps and street view in particular is great for when I'm quoting the work and finding where I can and can not go with the truck.
