I think we long time posters get the exclusion factor, no problem because when I imagine having a boys/mensroom conjures up unpleasant odors/ messy floors and grafitti. No thanks.
I am deeply offended about discrimination towards men, it is everywhere and I am dismayed to see it on this board.  I do not mind the woman's space at all, just the fact we can't have a men's space too bothers me. Men do like to have intelligent conversations and chats with other men and discuss certain topics without having to worry about offending women, thus a mens chat. And yes men do get gross and tell bad jokes and such, but other men don't get offended by that stuff.

Just Google "government agencies for women" and then do "government agencies for men" and you will realized just how badly men are discriminated against.

Men are treated as disposable, die earlier, are expected to take care of others AFTER THEY ARE DEAD, commit suicide more often, have to register for the draft, have falling college attendance and graduation rates, have no protected group status, are not the gender that gets automatic custody of the kids, are sentenced more harshly for the same crimes, are the subjected to mandatory arrest in DV calls NO MATTER IF HE CALLED 911 as the victim of DV, forced to pay C.S. for children who are proven by DNA not to be his, forced to pay CS for children that resulted from being statutarily raped by teachers, etc.

Pop quiz: when is the last time you heard a news story that said "14 people were killed, including 2 men." It doesn't happen because society does not value men except as walking wallets, heavy box lifters, and pro bono security guards. Mens' deaths and injuries are trivial. Violence against men is trivialized (including rape -- about 7x more men are raped each year). Compare prostate cancer and breast cancer rates/deaths vs fund raising.

Doesn't sound like privilege to me. I'm with Itripper on this one.

Have to agree, men are indeed disposable and treated accordingly, and always have been. Society and our species are messed up and aggressive on so many levels that we probably couldn't change it without remaking humans entirely, from the ground up, to the point that they wouldn't even be human anymore.

So I guess we're all stuck with each other. Oh well.

I don't care if women have their own forums, though. That kind of thing can be a safety valve, letting off steam. Which can be useful to all. At any rate, the best and most useful forums are almost guaranteed to be those in which everyone can and will contribute, so I don't think men or women truly lose out all that much when the opposite sex isolates itself for whatever reason.

There used to be a men’s thread on here somewhere. It just kinda died but it’s probably still around if one of you wants to search

Thanks, John. Another really interesting read!
