I think both Will Prowse and HOBOTECH do nice jobs on their product reviews. They test for must have features (like using the device while charging) and that the product does what the mfg says it does. They both seem share their honest opinions and finding.

I'm not sure sure I'd blame the youtubers for the term solar generator. I bet it was coined by the marketing group from Goal Zero. It really doesn't bother me though because I think of these devices as alternatives to functions of gas generators.

My wish is they stop calling these shtboxes "generators". They are small storage batteries with a cheap inverter.

Exactly, and they are so overpriced vs just buying a battery and glue an inverter to the side with GOOP. Thats what I do!!
