Sugar Beet Harvest

This thread is for nomads NOT dwelling in an rv:

I recently applied to the sugar beet harvest starting in Oct and will paste below what I was told as someone without an rv:

"If you DO NOT have an RV, we do have limited housing available at a minimal cost to you. We will require a background check and it is also double occupancy. You would be responsible for finding someone to stay with you and work the harvest. No additional people not working, no children and no pets are allowed in our housing."


Are there any vandwellers, leather or bike tramps, etc want to buddy up and do the sugar beet harvest?

Not yet, tomorrow I'm interviewing with them but that's just to get put on the solo *waitlist.*

Meanwhile, they have double occupancy accommodations available *right now.*

Take a peek at their website and see what you reckon. I understand most finish with 3500-4k.

Also, Michigan has a beet harvest also; it seems they have a different website to sign-up on.

Oh shoot, sorry. Basically need two people to commit for the entire month of October. I had someone, but they changed their mind l, so back to square one.

My fall job is going home…200 miles East of Fargo and cleaning my stuff out for my kids… I officially consider myself full time.
I can always go back… but it’s my kids, not mine! Never felt so free!!!!

What's the smallest vehicle someone has used as housing during the Harvest? I'm quite curious.

I want to the beet harvest for 2024 but do ont have a rv. Is there anyone I can bum a rv spot with?

it's starting to sound like they don't want non-rv people. Or at least just can't accommodate them in their budget. If they have a local gym you can shower or was willing to have a shower trailer for their workers that would be even better an a parking lot for overnight sleeping would be even better but I don't think they do do they..

If you need money temp work jobs in the cities is always a good idea to make some cash! about 10 years ago I signed a 6mo. contract with Ranstad to work in a call center and they did two weeks of paid training then a few more weeks of on the phones training and then on our own. I lasted for a few weeks before I stopped showing up. I was much younger then. It can be a great way to make some money for a season in a city before leaving 6 months down the line.

That is why I'm trying to save up as much as I can now with my full-time job so I CAN live in a area for 6 months find a temp job for the season and then do it again for the next 6 months in another area that is better weather. Google temp work agencies and go from there!
