I finally installed a 11 watt solar panel in the left rear Van window, this will maintain the Start battery,
sparky1 in Va.

Unisolars usually have blocking diodes so the battery does not feed the panel at night.

Is the window glass tinted?.

Output will be compromised in that orientation.

I did this with a 200W Solar panel for a while.. well the panel was quite a bit larger, so it really covered the entire back wall of the van, but portions of it peaked out the window I had it all hooked up to my house battery, and it charged it just fine! Of course, I had to put up with blocking my view out the back, the hassle of opening the back door and having a whole new wall in the way, etc.

Now it's mounted on the roof rack thanks to @akrvbob and @soulraven, and definitely lots better! I never even think about the panel anymore, it's just there!

With Love,
Tara

1.No window NOT tinted.it was getting dark when i took the picture.
I didn't want to completely Block the window, just in case some LEO,wants to jump on me for the panel.
2.Yes it has Blocking Diode.Bought this panel in 1998 still working fine.

sparky1.in s.Va.

man, i would hate not seeing well out the rear.

Seeing very well outside mirrors --inside mirrow NOT required if you have outside mirrors--i still have (1) to see out of---but NO windshield Mirrow any way.
sparky1 in s-va.
