I would hate to see what happens if the line gets tangled coming out!

How do you catch the little buggers?
Bumbles are the best selection. Large. slow and docile presumably only the females sting. Clip their wings and those of dragonflies and a kid has an airforce to accompany his army men.

As well as slingshot ammo for your siblings.

ahh the days before video games

June bugs tied to a string were much more entertaining. Coming from a steel producing town iron ore is processed into 1/2 balls that with a wrist rocket would penetrate oak barn siding and you cannot get any more environmentally pure than rust. Although we did use home made clay marbles sometimes.

Tx2sturgis. What goes up must come down. Ouch that could kill you.

Brian slingshot pics or it didn’t happen [emoji3]

Ah...yee of little faith....

Here is the one I have:

And here is a promotional youtube video showing one in action:

I also added the Notch trigger (the black assembly in the middle) it improves ease of use and improves aiming accuracy.

We've used it several times to hang wire antennas here. It works!

It looks like what I had in Hawaii for spear fishing. They called it a Hawaiian sling there.

Oh hey....I might build up some kind of 'staff'...like a small spear, and launch it just to see what happens....

Hold my beer and WATCH THIS!

:D

This Hawaiian sling shoots arrows... My sling shoots stones (highly biodegradable!)
I really don't wanna to skewer the squirels...

Don’t come crying to me when you put your eye out.

The squirells will love you forever if you shoot peanuts, dried corn,  walnnuts, pecans, hazlenuts at them.

Shoot acorns for ammo, the squirrels will love it!
