I am just in the "getting ideas" of putting a semi-stealth van together. I am thinking of a hightop extended bus type van. like a dodge 3500 or something like that. Something tall enough to stand up in and have storage and a little elbow room.
I was wondering about the pros or cons of putting a premolded fiberglass shower enclosure in. I was just looking at Home Depot & they don't seem very heavy. I would set it up to be able to pump out the grey water to a 5 gallon water jug & pump in (or gravity feed from another 5 gallon jug. I am used to showers using minimal water so the usage would be minimal. Has anyone tried this? Staying clean is essential to me. I have a gym membership but am thinking of the times away from civilization. I would also utilize this with a porta pottie and storage containers when not in use.
They are put in camper vans all the time. Our B had a sit down shower, and many have wet showers, where the toilet is in the shower: sit on the toilet lid and shower. We preferred ours to campground showers, wetting down, soaping up, and rinsing off. Minimal time and water.

@gp- I recognize that van, she is a member here, her handle escapes me. Someone else may remember it. She has a build thread here.

dragonflyinthesky, that is my blog. I wrote the page using gp's photos and information. I've seen her van in person several times, and it's amazing.

We're going to meet her in Mississippi next month at a water park and I get to see her latest updates and revisions. She is constantly improving it.

Thanks for the kind words, Simran. Although I know that the regulars here have seen the shower setup before, I continue to post it for people who may be new to vandwelling and haven't seen it. This is an inexpensive, tried and true way that works and has been perfected, so I'm hoping to save someone money by not buying things that didn't work for us. Also, particularly for women, not being dependent on public facilities and being able to have a hot shower every day makes a huge difference quality of life. One change I have made recently is cutting the sides of the cement mixing pan down to about 5 inches high(it was 10 inches) to reduce the weight and make the pan easier to empty into the sink. Another thing I did is to put the shower curtain on a drawstring so when I'm through with it, I can easily pull the string to close it up and hang it in the doorwell where it dries within half an hour. Hoping this info makes somebody's life a little nicer.
