RVers what's your true mpg highway?

I have asked many people in rv parks and on craigslist for avg mpg of some class c rigs.<br>I get any where from 8mpg to 16mpg. I am not sure who to believe or if there is really no way to know unless you buy the rig and find out for yourself.<br><br>I would love to hear from owners here <br><br>Type of rig, year, make model, engine size, mpg, pics<br><br>thanks
 
I get 9-10 mpg.&nbsp; Usually get 9 when towing my toad, 10 when not.&nbsp; YMMV. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif" class="emoticon bbc_img">
 
2002 Ford F250 Turbo Diesel 6&nbsp;speed manual 4X4 Super Cab 8 foot bed. 30 foot 1997 Newmar American Star 5th wheel (Approx. 10,000 lbs) <br><br>Empty no trailer 20-22 mpg<br><br>Pulling 5th wheel a solid 10 mpg<br><br>I get the same mileage towing my 11,000 lb 29 foot sailboat&nbsp;on a &nbsp;trailer.
 
If you have a smartphone there's a free app called fuel log that calculates mileage. <br>My E350 26' Class C gets anywhere from 5.3 to 8.3 mpg. Depends on hills, wind, speed
 
We get 19 to 20 towing our Heartland NT BRS28 with our 1500 GMC.
 
My 2000 Gmc Savannah minibus got 12.5 to 13.5. My 2004 f150 gets 21 empty and bout 12 towing my 88 excel 22' fifth wheel. This is one of the main reasons I went with a towable. Same mileage as my bus with twice the room when hooked up, almost twice the mileage when disconnected.
 
Rv-kitty: what is the spec's on your GMC 1500? That is the kind of tow mpg anyone would love.<br>Is this a van or truck? motor size? transmission manual?<br><br>thanks
 
19-20 fully loaded 2001 Ford E350xl bubbletop 7.3 diesel 4 speed automatic at 60 mph with the tires fully inflated
 
With my '92 F250 351W 4spd auto 4x4 gasser, I get 10-11 mpg with my 9 1/2' Vanguard slide-in camper going through the mountains and trying to keep it at 55 mph.. 60 max. Now, I just picked up an Alaskan Hi-Lo 10' camper and, due to the reduced weight and wind resistance, hope to get it up near 15 mpg. We'll see. ..Willy.
 
Willy: I saw that new camper you scored! Very nice find. I'd be interested in what you see for mpg now with the new rig.
 
&nbsp;I too am curious.. and will be some disappointed if I don't gain 4-5mpg. Kinda funny though, I get confirmation of my disability AFTER getting the camper. With PWD I get a fuel tax credit (up to $500/yr) and an insurance rebate of around 30%.. which can offset some of the bad mileage from hauling the big camper. Oh well. ..Willy.
 
I was getting 16mpg with my 1986 grumman olson step van 6 cyl 292 gaz engine. I have done some modifications on it to improve this. I installed a small camback, and fender skirts, tested it and saw very little difference,if&nbsp;any other then found myself driving faster as&nbsp;it was quieter and felt alot more stable at highway speeds.&nbsp;Since then, not tested,&nbsp;I have&nbsp;installed side skirts between the front and rear wheels, a partial belly pan&nbsp;that I intend to finish, grill block, and my&nbsp;plan this summer is to&nbsp;go a little bigger on the camback, finish the belly pan, extend the fender skirts a few inches, a modification on the A pillars making them a little rounder, replace front bumper with new alluminium one, front air dam around to front wheel well and&nbsp;improve grill block.&nbsp;I am hoping&nbsp;for 18mpg or more&nbsp;when done, we'll see.&nbsp;

maybe a little irrelevant to van living.&nbsp; but with a 26ft class A, dodge 440, fully loaded. includes 80 gallons of gas and 55 gallons of water, i managed to squeeze a 7.1 mpg.at 55 to 60 mph. mind you that was Glendale AZ to quartzite az.mostly flat ground, and 5.5 from glendale to globe az. lots of big grades from superior az to globe
 
YES OUCH!!! lol but then i do tend to sit longer in one place <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> and it comfortable for me. old person here, ha! need to bake my biscut and gravy in a oven. i&nbsp; think i read on here awhile back, you practice in a larger rv and then buy a van
 
&nbsp;Most of them ol' geezers I've seen throughout the years have been in either vans/campervans, or truck/camper setups. A few had the big rigs, but those were generally the ones with killer pensions. ..Willy.
