Hi all. Has anyone dwelt in the cab of an XLT F150 here? Either as a temporary thing while traveling or to live in? I have a 1999 F150 that someone gave me. Don't have the $$$ as yet for a topper. I was thinking of removing the passenger seat/center (it's one piece in this truck). Can the back half seat be removed as well, without much trouble? It's folded down presently but would be higher than the floor. If I lay down crossways I could stretch out fully in the cab.

It would at least make for a good nap-mobile. My job is pretty physical and I've had some health issues lately. To stretch out somewhere during my lunch hour or a break would be heaven.

I'm looking around at what Ford Econoline vans are going for here, for someday. Are they as reliable and long-lived as the F150s are said to be? This one has 220,000 miles on it with one other owner who took meticulous care of it.

I spent 75 weeks traveling around the usa, sleeping and living in a 1956 Chevy Pickup with a bench seat. It can be done if you are < 35.

As soon as you can, find a canopy, CL should have some. Then (or before) go onto "desktodirtbag" online, and read the excellent and well pictured article entitled:

I'm sure that you can fully remove the back seat. Trucks aren't that complicated, well, the new ones are but if yours is a bit older it should come out. See "Ford-trucks.com",

I second looking for a used cap if you look enough you can find them dirt cheap. highdesertranger

I have a Nissan Frontier and was planning on taking the front passenger seat out to put my cooler in that spot. I was curious if this was even legal but I guess it must be.

I was just concerned about things like, would it throw off weight distribution too much, or any other difficulties. I think if it's your truck you can do what you want with it, long as it is still roadworthy
