For those with some minor mobility issues (having no problem accessing a Mazda CX5), would the sliding door on the Promaster be an easier access point than the higher step up required via the passenger door? This assumes a full length running board.
 
Also, if you go for the sliding door, you can install "grab handles" to make it easier.
Looks like a much higher step into the cab area than into the cargo area. Good point about handle access inside sliding door, too
 
...granted, the asphalt isn't super flat, so I think "similar" is the best I can conclude.
