Hello everyone.
I am looking for advice from anyone out there full time rving on SSD income and having a Representative Payee. My husband and I are looking into doing rving full time due to loss of my job and he is unable to work collecting SSD. Not sure how to do this on the restrictions about reporting how his monies are spent. Would have to report the sale of house and provide an address (could do parents address in state). I have read some information on this site in regards to his medication issues and will need to check with the doctor on that one. However, if anyone would be willing to give any advice or experience on this it would be appreciated.

I would think if you used your parents address, and sent the money info in when the letter came in the mail, ss wouldn't know.

I guess it would depend on why he requires a Representative payee......I would talk with your Disability Attorney as to what actions are available to you.

There is a reason he has a Representative...and there are laws that govern this.

you want to do this correctly , if you go by someones opinion on a forum you could open one hell of a Bee's nest on yourself which could result in SSD/I taking action that your not gonna like!

Im on SSD.......most of its pretty basic without problems , prescriptions are available thru Walmart anywhere in the country.....I do doctor visits online(Skype)....and most tests can be done at any lab or health center.

I am his RP and that is due to his type of illness. We have been with each other for the last 17 years now, good and bad times after he took ill. You are correct in wanting to do this the right way, and seeking input in regards to something that I may not have thought about. The Attorney's have been paid and not sure if they could give any actions to take but that is a good idea of thought.

Nothing basically is going to change other than you are going to be mobile....I personally return back to my home state (NH) every 3 to 6 months for doctors and any appointments that need be.

I travel everywhere east of the Mississippi on the east coast in my RV and Boondock almost continuously......my home address is a mobile home I bought with a lifelong friend who pays the bills & taxes in exchange for living there. and I have my guest room open to me when I stop thru !!

you might want to think about this type of arrangement because we cant be out here forever. its all doable!!......your advantage to the RV is you become mobile so the job market is better , you might just stumble into an area that you both like and plant your roots again !

as far as having to keep track of his expenses nothing should basically change other than normal monthly bills........again a good disability attorney or a disability rep. from an organization should be able to answer all the important questions and help you research what you need to do it.

Good luck!!!...........
We are not Disabled or handicapped....we just face challenges in life......and everyone has there own challenges !!!!!!!

I agree with you about the challenges in life we all face, and thank you for your advice and time. Safe journeys!

Welcome bmurlin; hope you get the answers you seek. Don't give up on the work thing. If you start traveling you may bump into something that suits the mobile lifestyle. Good Luck!

I was the representative payee for my wife for many years till she passed away last year. I have never been able to keep up with her expenses or separating them from the rest of the family. Before he died, My oldest son was also on disability with me as the representative payee. A long time ago, I just gave up on trying to be accurate and filled in all the spaces with guess-ta-mates that would sound reasonable and went about living. I never heard anything about it from the SS administration so just do your best. Now, we never did get on the road after hers and Michaels problems started so I don't know anything about that part but we did sell our place one time and had to lose that months pay till I spent the money. Good luck.

Welcome BMurlin!
