George Washington said that politicians should work for free. I think he meant that it should be an honor, and not a reason to make deals on the side and under the table. I don't think he would even recognize today's politicians. OTOH, our current crop would probably think he belonged in the ****y hatch.

its NOT meant to be a political discussion, what i meant to get across is, when bad things happen to us,,,,oh well,,,,but when it happens to them,,,,NATIONAL TRAGITY. they aught to live in our shoes for a minute. just an opinion. i will say 1 thing tho, i sure got a lot of responses faster then ever,,

Not a National Tragedy, but interesting to observe, nonetheless.

Seems we have become more divided, as a nation, than at any time in my lifetime.  A poll taken before the last election reported that 40% of Republicans couldn't respect anyone who voted for Hillary, while 58% of Democrats claimed they couldn't respect anyone who voted for Trump.

Now it turns out that a Bernie supporter asked if they were Democrats or Republicans before attacking them.

There was a demonstration and counter demonstration somewhere on the west coast not too long ago, which led to the left throwing bottles and bricks at the right.  After the police broke it up, there were pictures of a huge pile of various weapons - knives, clubs, etc. taken from the left.

Reminds me too much of post World War 1 Germany, where right wing types battled socialists and communists in the street.  Hitler's Brownshirts - aka "Stormtroopers" were one such group that got their start doing that.

Are we headed for another civil war?  Or just a really nasty national divorce? 

Well, as I've said, I'm merely an extremely interested observer . . .
