A coworker's parents had half of their house burn down. My coworker owns a nice 5th wheel about 24 foot that he lent to them to live on their property until they can recover from the fire. The parents had a licensed electrician attach a 50 amp plug in on the telephone pole for electricity. Everything is open and on the up-and-up. To be clear: The parents are temporarily living on their own property in their son's RV trailer.
During the recovery process, they were told by the county that their living condition is considered renting, so they had to pay $50 for a permit to rent from themselves. I don't know if this fee is monthly, yearly, or a one time deal, but just another example of how weird city ordinances can be in regards to RV living.
