Those of you in CA/NV/UT/AZ are keeping an eye out for rain and flooding too, right? not just in the direct path of Hurricane Hilary, and not just in areas that usually get a lot of rain. There's a predicted rain map in this article.

Stay dry (but not too dry)!

Yes, exactly -- read the news. Or just the article linked to. Or just the whole post.

It is raining here in the Flagstaffvicinity. No surprise about that. Flood warnings on the local weather report but that too is not at all unusual in the month of August.

Likely to rain most of the night….now that truly is unusual and it is indicative of a storm system rather that the typical daily monsoon season rain which is most likely to occur sometime between 11:00 am and 5:00pm.

The ground in our campsite area is likely to get some standing water patches here and there for a short while after a heavy downpour but there will not be any flooding conditions. We are camped on rocky volcanic pumice soil in a forested area with a slight slope to the ground but no steep hillsides next to us. The forest service road in from the highway is in excellent condition, no ruts and no mud.

Going to be a good night to stay inside and stream videos courtesy of the neighbors’ Starlink connection.

Seven weeks from tomorrow, I lock the gate and start the season. July was 90's everyday. June was great, May was a bit chilly and I am thinking late Sept might be a bit on the cold side. Once again I skipped out on the extreme weather, and yes 90s was hot, but it was cooler than elsewhere.... where as Colo in June/July was rainy and ugly... I missed gallivanting around this summer, but I also have a wee nest egg for shocks and maybe tires. This has been an awesome experience and I am planning on next year. Reminder, I can have guests... but plan ahead as the site is occupied now and other friends are also due at some point. Here is a look at the summer gig. I put this together in my spare time, I have shown the bosses.. I figure I will let them find it.. the horse community is a close bunch, they all know each other... ;) I have been using a drag all season to groom the camp road and the sites, and the horse folk really appreciate it, some even gallop, because they can... at least now they can... I have tossed so so many rocks out of the road and sites... :)

I am looking fwd to seeing the crew again... .. .... and french toast.

The smoke has been chasing Us out of OREGON

We camped at Oregon's Collier State Park for a whopping $40 a nite........at least we had HOT showers.........The cats were amused by the bold campground Chipmunks that would climb up the van steps and torment them on the other side of the screen door

and a nite at FS Howard's Gulch for a mere $7.50 in California

Now we're in a Forest service campground for 5 days....$80......Merrill Campground near Susanville on Eagle lake

Re-Built in 2000 the park looks like a modern RV park morphed with a Forest Service Camp............with a 169 campsites this place has you covered................We're "on" the lakeshore with no provided utilities........but you can also have Full-hookups or anywhere in between for a price (the lake is still a LONG walk from camp)

OH MY.........we have "Gopher TV" to entertain the Kitties............Cute little guys digging burrows under the picnic table

Film at Eleven

Well, I may seem to be heading the wrong direction. But heading home to clear out my stuff as I sold the place to my son. Obviously I didn’t charge what the market might bring, but neither did my dad to me… haha.
I’m just going to be glad to pass on the bills and the tax burden… which has increased quite a bit over the years…
And the propane to heat the joint, the electric… I wonder if the dividend the electric company says I own is worth anything… haha. One more visit to the firehall I enjoyed playing at… and by November hit the road again to where the road takes me.

Chillie approved ?
I have one that is similar now, and two smaller mats... next set up, the two small ones will go under wher chilli hangs out and two big ones out front.... at $47 is was to cheap not to buy,,,, and yeah... chilli like mats... as do I , less dirt on the dog...
