I wouldn't want to sleep on a folding bed.

Yeah, very nice!...but no bathroom?? :(

Kinda reminds me of somma the big sleepers on semi trucks these days.

Purty. I am hoping the new Dodge / Fiat van or the new full sized Transit (similar interior room) will be affordable in 9 years when I retire.

the new Transit is nice, but honestly I like the NV 200 (I think thats the number) cargo nissan better right now, can run Hybrid or flip to pure electric... thats going to be the way of the future...

I wonder when I see beautiful conversions like that if I'm the only one who immediately thinks it has too much open space and not enough storage.

The whole NV line is looking better and better to me. The 200 is at the top of my list - not sure we'll get the hybrid or electric versions in the US for a while though.

well... I'm considering getting some electric engines for my dodge caravan, front wheel drive means I could put them on the back wheels, I dont expect it would move me very fast but as long as I could keep up with city traffic I'd be happy with it... I find a lot of legal ways to get free shore power.... I've never found a legal way to get free gas.

I have a friend with the tall Nissan and it's perfect in every way but it only gets about 15 MPG. Most newer full-size van will beat that. I don't know which engine it has but I do know it is a regular gas engine.

Wow, I would have figured that gas mileage would have been around 20 or so for those Nissan's....

It totally surprised me too. I should add he has less than 10,000 miles on it, so it isn't even broke in. It may get better as it gets more miles. And it is really tall so that can't help.

The chevy 5.3 is a low-top van should easily get 18 mpg driven reasonably.

That is my next van hopefully (unless I miraculously find a 7.3 Ford)...A extended Chevy with the 5.3 LS motor!!! Great motors with little troubles ever.

That is a really nice conversion, the RV manufacturers in the US could learn from this guy. Well thought out and if you read his trip blog a really great writer.

Greetings!

I'm sure there's a lot of readers here who could benefit from some info on how to get free, legal shore power. Can you share?

Cheers!

I have friends in my trade association who have the NV tall vans and complain about 12 mpg. A Sprinter is far superior in mileage to the Nissan NV vans.

Um, key word there is "legal". I'm ok in the gray areas of the law, some aren't and I don't want to offend/get somebody in trouble who might do it differently than I do...

One could buy some lock picks and have free food too...

I'll pass on that one.

Free legal shore power.....HHhhmmm. I guess asking and they ok it is close......other than that" theft of utilities" is on the books in all 50 states.

Nothing is free , Thats a fact!!

RV manufactures are more worried about making sure you can sleep 15 people uncomfortably inside while having every thing possible to ensure you have to use landlines for power and water, than build a actual usable RV.
