This bunch?  Yeah, but you're the most likely to slide into the topic of politics.  You can't help yourself, it seems. :D

Everything goes back to politics in the end. It is hard to think of a subject that would not.

You have to admit it, many younger people have a very narrow world as well. Maybe it is school or college, a career, a family. Their entire life energy is focused on a single goal, and they live in ignorance and fear of alternatives. I am saying this as a young person who completely does not relate to my generation.

Many seniors are extremely nostalgic and escape to the past, because they have given up on enjoying their current life. They are often the most friendly, as they relive their adventures through my stories and perspective.

Visiting the sister(81)and the BIL(89)for a couple of days and seeing again how old timers interests revolve around their ailments, doctors, meds.Little interest in anything not directly impacting their daily life.I would say that I hope I never get that way,but I probably will.

It has been my experience that folks who recede into a shell often focus on their ailments. Staying active and interacting with actives steers one away from that. Some forums posts about the OP's med issue result in folks chiming in about their medical issues. The fact you recognize this in your sister may keep you from going down that path. I refer to myself as older, never old. That is a mantle I will never wear. I fully intend to live every day of my life fully. I refuse to accept that age defines me, limits me, minimizes me. I bow to no beast.
