As a general rule, every amorphous panel I've ever seen produced about half the amperage of similar-sized crystalline panels. The other major downside of amorphous panels is that, should one break, you're screwed. If a Crystalline panel breaks, you can solder the cells back together and you're good to go. That, of course, may vary, but it worked for me, and I have a copy of an article where some guy used that very characteristic to construct and repair his own panels.

That said, they all do, indeed, make great roof shades. I'm surprised someone hasn't used them for an awning.
 
&nbsp;That's what I like about the Unisolar flexible amorphous panels.. pretty damned difficult to break them puppies. hell ya can even WALK on them, do a jig even! ..Willy.
