UPDATE:
I donated my classic 93 Dodge Ram camper van 9 months ago and now I'm part timing in this 2018 Nissan NV 1500 v6 cargo van.
90% done with the build out over this past summer. (just need more trim work caulking and more insulation on back doors)
It now has a ladder rack-remote air fan-small fridge-sink-Propane heat source -butane stove and collaspsible toliet.
I found out a hammock is better on my back and I can use it indoors /outdoors and it takes up less space.
By me being an artist this van is also a mini art studio.
I didn't check all the specs before purchasing and found out this baby has 4 catalytic converters -of course the more you
have the more problems . I will address that on another post.
I look forward to reading the interesting posts again and peeking the new members .

I like those vans!

All the newish rigs have a bunch of expensive cats... which is why they were getting stolen a lot during covid. A few seconds with a battery powered saw, and done. On my Tundra the cost to replace was $6k !!!... if they were available, which they weren't.

Yeah -I hear you brother. I'm going to have to buy some locking mechanism to secure them. My check engine light stays on -and my mechanic says I'm' okay for now..the fuel
is burning rich.'

I believe it was a 420 code.
While there are some simple fixes that are possible for this code on your van, your mechanic needs to double check and fix the problem. Or maybe he needs to be your ex mechanic. Don't just wait, because if it's a cheaper easy fix now, it could turn into an expensive fix fairly quickly.

"A "P0420" code on a 2018 Nissan NV 1500 indicates that the "Catalyst System Efficiency is Below Threshold (Bank 1)," which essentially means your catalytic converter is not functioning properly and needs to be inspected or potentially replaced; this is the most common cause for this code."

"Key points about the P0420 code:
Meaning:
The onboard computer detects that the catalytic converter on "Bank 1" (usually the side with the first cylinder in a V-engine) is not efficiently reducing emissions.
Potential causes:
Faulty catalytic converter (most common)
Exhaust leaks before the catalytic converter
Failing oxygen sensors (upstream or downstream)
Damaged or corroded wiring related to the oxygen sensors
Engine misfires
Symptoms:
Illuminated check engine light
Possible decrease in fuel efficiency
Failed emissions test
What to do:
Get a professional diagnosis: Have a mechanic scan your vehicle to confirm the P0420 code and check for other potential issues.
Check for exhaust leaks: Inspect the exhaust system for any leaks before the catalytic converter.
Inspect oxygen sensors: Check the condition of the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors.
Consider a catalytic converter cleaning: Some specialized cleaning solutions might be able to temporarily improve a slightly clogged converter, but a replacement might be necessary in most cases.
Replace the catalytic converter: If the diagnosis points to a faulty catalytic converter, it will likely need to be replaced."

Thanks a million !...or 5 thousand.
I knew joining this forum was a good thing. I'm learning alot from the 'community knowledge '.
Unfortunately there's alot of unsavory mechanics taking advantage of us poor folks.

I live in a border town and can see Canada (not Russia :) ) from downtown . It will be cheaper to have it inspected and fixed over there with Benjamin Franklins.

I dunno... Canadian incomes are about the same as in the US after you do the currency conversion. In other words, it will cost the same number of Benjamins. If you were on the southern border, you could save some money.

For a job thats $500 bucks. My $500 American is $717 Canadian = Which leaves me an extra $217 Canadian leftover to get additional work done. (Or go to a strip club and have a few lap dances a steak dinner and a few beers. :) )
I'm following you now-anytime you want to IM me ,feel free to do so.

A job that is 500 US$ will typically cost 717 Canadian$, is what I'm sayin. There is no savings. You have to go to a country where people make lower real wages than in the US, and Canadians don't.
