Too heavy???  I read the article.

It weighs 240 lbs. empty.  In transit can carry 100 lbs of cargo with a class 2 hitch.

Set up, the floor can support over 1000 lbs.

I don't know if I'd want this but think this is a lot more versatile and easy than those car top campers.

Hope they succeed. Competition and new ideas are great for everyone.

It would be to heavy for compact cars that recommend a class 1 hitch only.
This requires a class II hitch.

Target market car of choice is Subaru.

200lb ball weight rating?

This is 340+# loaded, and lots of that weight is leveraged lots farther back.

Might not break the car immediately, but if fulltiming will definitely accelerate rear-end wear and tear.

And insurance will have an easy way to refuse payout if something happens, even if it's not your fault.

Same here, but they should put right up front requires a properly rated heavier vehicle.

Big SUV, no problem.

Adding space for a truck+cap rig, would be ideal.

But the marketing is aimed at youngsters who insist on high mpg, most of whom would be disappointed to learn about the legal / safety details.
