I need advise on which used van to buy. Ram Promaster or Ford Transit. Not much info on the internet on repair histories or chronic problems even though they have both been in the USA since 2014. I will get the high roof, long wheelbase and 2500 in any case. Thinking a 2016 or 2017 with lowest affordable mileage will be good. Thanks to all for any experience you may have.

1 vote for Ford if a Sprinter is not an option.

I vote for a Ford even if a Sprinter is available. Sprinter repair costs are outrageous.

As for Transit vs Promaster, I'm not a big fan of Fiat or Chrysler products. Reliability is an issue.

You might want a high roof, long wheelbase and 2500 from 2016 or 2017, but in the end it'll come down to what's on the market when you want to buy. Be prepared to compromise. Or wait.

Another vote for any Ford, over any Dodge product. You will most likely appreciate a high top, after hitting your head a few times, and having a backache on a rainy day.

I have a Winnebago Travato which is a build out of a 3500 Ram Promaster.  I'm very pleased with my rig and have taken it to some rather extreme locations.

Just an FYI - a lot of class-B RVs are being built on the Promaster - so I suspect that it is a good van to build on.

It's because Fiat Chrysler Automobiles gave them the best deal.
