Has there been any progress with your trailer? I have been pondering an 6.5x8x24 for the last year. An 8' wide
trailer is rare. My biggest concern is pulling a 24' trailer into national forests. Deserts would be no problem of
course, but forest roads???

I have had an aluminum 6.5x6x12 (should have went with a 7' wide) behind  my 1 ton diesel for the  last 5 years.
I hardly know its back there. It's been great, but too small to full time in. The next trailer will have the galley and
toilet in the middle; so we each have one end to our selves. After 23 years, we still like each other. But we don't
have a lot of common ground. Having our own space is essential.

I never have enough space for my tools. Although I stay away from any tool with a long handle. :<{)

Yep, the longer, wider, and taller the trailer, the less maneuverable it will be...simple fact of life.

I was using my 6x12 for week-long trips and it was adequate but I figured out pretty fast that spending a month in that little trailer was not fun....I could not imagine cramming two people and all their stuff in a 6x12.

Sixteen feet total rig length is recomended for forest campgrounds. I have done OK with 22 foot rig in the 16 foot campgrounds with both RearWD and FrontWD rigs. I am not towing, that is total length, but smaller trailers (like yours) can be maneuvered around the corners without too much damage to it from tree trunks and branches. You will have to unhook the trailer when camping, and may have to park an oversized pickup in the overflow parking area. You should check the parking length online and try for a bigger site.

well I don't stay in camp grounds. oops correction I stayed at a FS campground 1 night this year so far.

I have already have desert pin stripped my whole trailer and on the curb side I introduced it to a tree. no major damage just some creases but it took a few hours to fix the side door.

you can't worry about this stuff or if you are worried stay on pavement.
