Thanks, Bob....good to know. I agree, coyotes are dog shy. These cats are strictly indoor pets so wont mind being confined to a large tent, never to roam. Anyway, the dogs are super sweet but wont tolerate any intruding 4 legged critter. I hope to find a camper fast on CL there but still looking here so I wont have to do the cats in tent camping.

I wish you the best of luck! You will LOVE Arizona! Especially during the Winter. Quartzite and Ehrenburg, the Imperial Valley of California. And Yuma. My favorite places. Go to the RTR in January. I went last year and learned SO much information that made my 'nomad' life easier. It is a wonderful 'tribal' life. Be Social! I learned to be social after camping with new friends after the RTR. You can be social and still maintain your privacy. So many things to see and do...it is a remarkable lifestyle.

Thanks Sameer. I've always wanted to move to AZ (the Southwest) and I'm a wanderer by nature. Finally I'm ready to adopt the lifestyle. I hope to be able to paint/draw full time as this has been a vocation I've struggled to fulfill since college and the abundance of landscape options out there are infinite. I'll for sure hit the RTR. Just one more thing to deal with here and I'm gone.

A belated welcome to the site. (I've been a bit out of touch lately...having fun)

We base out of Az and its been my home state for quite a few years. I love that there is something for everyone when it comes to the outdoors. You can pretty much pick the weather that suits your clothes.
The Williams/Flag area is a good place to start this time of year.
This summer we're enjoying some of N.M. and a little of Colo before swinging back down into Az forests for early fall. Winter will find us back in the southern desert toasting our bunz.
There's so much to see and do in Az and its neighboring states that you don't have to go far for something different.

Good luck and keep us posted as you travel.

Thanks again, Bob. Will keep in touch here. I might have to wait till mid or late August to leave. I'm wondering what the best time to start looking for used camper trailers in AZ, or is there no rv "selling season" out there. Seems spring and fall people sell their rvs here. Chris

Thanks for the welcome, bindi&us. I was stationed in NM at Holloman AFB near White Sands in '71-'73.....amazing place! I'll probably get residency in AZ and hit the neighboring states and beyond. Good luck to you as well.

I'm sorry, I've never bought an RV so I don't really know. Maybe start a thread on buying a used camper, specifying the area you are looking for. Many of our members enjoy watching craigslist in their area and will post anything they see.

I think more than anything it's a matter of lucky, remembering that luck prefers the prepared. I'd start watching craigslist on your travel route and in a large area around Flagstaff. That includes Las Vegas, Salt Lake, Phoenix, Yuma Albuquerque and all of So Cal.

It would be worth a days drive to me to get the best rig at the best price.
Bob
