New here, I'm an old hot rodder and have a personal hot rod shop in Falfurrias, Tx. Always liked the old Trans vans and just picked up a '97 Chevy. It's a G30 with a single wheel rear axle. It need some help but was cheap and running. 350/350 trans. Put in a fuel pump and got it running. Motor doesn't sound to bad, time will tell, but for $900 and a clear title, couldn't pass it up. Was originally from Oklahoma. No serious rust at all, but has had a leak where the rear body meets the part that goes over the van cab. P.O. used silicone to seal it. At this point, I don't know if he succeeded or not. Need to check, however, I would like to repair it correctly or more permanent.
Planning on re-doing it on the inside and have stripped most of the inside except for the rear kitchen/closet area. Will leave that as is. Pulled off all the awful shag carpet and once I repair the leak, want to replace the needed plywood inside to start the restoration.
Need some help, ideas, with repairing the leaking area. Then more help on the rest of it. Here's a few pictures of what I'm working with. Thanks, Joe.
