it will have one of those or an Olympian. my old travel trailer and my buddies old truck camper both had Olympians. highdesertranger

Must be one of those Canada/USA things, cuz I can count on 1 hand the number of catalytic furnaces I've seen up here in RV's. AFAIK, they're not approved for use in an enclosed area up here, but I don't know when that legislation went into effect.. Willy.

yeah I have not seen the olympians installed in anything of newer vintage. both of my examples were of the early 70's. highdesertranger

Okay, here's my old 'gravity fed' heater. I plumbed in an electric valve body. ..Willy.IMG_0199.JPGIMG_0200.JPGIMG_0201.JPGIMG_0202.JPG

That is cool. More pics please! (And maybe an instruction book on how to hook up and run!!!

Well, looks like my pics are history. Bummer. Basically, there's just the propane fitting (flared end) to hook up and the thermostat, which is 2 wires. With the old style valve body it would merely be the propane to hook up. Lighting is pretty simple.. press down the selector knob when it's at 'pilot' and light the pilot light via the provided (covered with a rotating slider) and hold down for abt 30 sec. Then rotate the knob and set the temp. ..Willy.

Looked for one of those forever it seems, seem to be scarce as hen's teeth......finally bit the bullet and bought a new atwood 8012.
They sure are proud of those!
I was hoping to find one that didn't have fans and all sucking power, figured it might be quieter as well.

So You replaced the pilot assembly with an electronic? Does it have a flame sensor to cut fuel if the flame blows out?
Inquiring minds...

That's what the pilot light does.. has a thermocouple that needs flame on it constantly in order for the gas to flow, much like a residential (gas) furnace or hot water tank. It's unfortunate that you couldn't find a used one; over here they're dime a dozen and readily available at the wrecker. ..Willy.
