Micro Inverter

Hello, I purchased some used solar panels and they had these micro inverters on them ( I think that's what they are )
just wondering what they are for and should I keep and use them somehow. I'm planning to do a small ground aray for my garage in the future and I already have solar for my camper..

Those are interesting, it looks to me like those panels were designed to be directly connected to existing mains power to provide supplemental power back into the grid.

In effect, similar to modern and much more complex commercial grid-intertie systems with (or without) net metering.

I would assume the overall benefit derived was not as great as was hoped in the beginning.

Or maybe it just never caught on?
