On the road, what do people do for medical emergencies? Do they dial 911 or is there another protocol to follow? I'm clueless. Thanks!
this is a situational question, it all depends on the injury and location... i have had to be driven out of a national forest with a bad knee, if not so bad drive to the ER, and if serious ya may get a chopper ride... It is all in the situation...
So I guess the bottom line is being able to dial 911 from the location we happen to be in. I'm sorry, that is what I should have asked! It's just nice to have an idea of what to do in these kind of situations ahead of time.

Thanks for your reply. It's appreciated.

______________________________
It's not what we have, or what we get, it's who we become.

I've also wondered what to do in case of a medical emergency. If we have cell phone coverage, no problem. But, for a lot of us we're in some very remote areas where a cell phone is useless. I've thought about getting one of these Spot personal locators or something similar.
http://www.findmespot.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=15

Supposedly, all you have to do is press a button and your location is transmitted to rescuers no matter where on earth you're located. Also, your family back home can keep up with your location via computer.

That is AWESOME! Thanks for letting me in on this. I'll save the weblink for sure. I'm just looking for something that will get me to the hospitial!!! lol... Hopefully that will never happen, but you never know!

Thanks a bunch!

SPOT is great for out in the boondocks, but it'll still take time.

They're pretty much your only option boondocking.

Otherwise, nowadays they just triangulate on your cellphone typically.

Thanks for your input! It is nice to know about SPOT for the boonies or the Forests. Otherwise I'll use my cell phone.
Also, keep in mind, with most of those alert things, there is a monthly or yearly fee.

I think the potential for medical emergencies is one of the best arguments for maintaining a tribal mentality. Small groups are better than being alone.

I agree about the small groups for sure. I will do my best to stay within range of Human Life.

I've noticed the smallest package deal for that Emergency device is around $100 a year. Definitely something to keep in mind - being a newbie and all.

Thanks for sharing.
