looking for non CDL RV delivery jobs

after having seen the videos and the seminars at the RTR i would like to dabble with the RV delivery. but i dont want to have to get a CDL to do it. so far every company i have contacted wants a CDL class B. i am only looking for drive away jobs, not into towing a trailer as i dont have a tow rig.

looking to here from anyone that has recent experience with RV deliveries in drive away (ie motorhomes) situations that did not require a CDL. names of companies to check out would be great.

i have a great driving record, history of CDL driving but i did not maintain my cdl so the cost/hassel of getting a new cdl is a barrier to entry especially since i only want to do it part time.  in oregon it is almost $200 to get a CDL and that is if you have a suitable rig, otherwise you have to rent a class B truck, another couple hundred. then at least a $100 for the dot medical and i will probably need fresh glasses and exam so add anothe couple hundred and pretty soon i gotta work a lot just to get the dang license. this was a job i was hopping to supplement my income since i have injuries that prevent me form working full time but am not currently eligible for ssdi

so any one know fo a current rv deliver company that hires part time drive away positions with a CDL?

If you do if for hire don't you need a CDL? And if you can't pass an eye test do you need to be driving? I think your ;ast line may need to read without a CDL, right?

yes, last line should read without cdl, missed that one and too late to edit now

law is over26,000 pounds requires CDL-B for a truck in commercial service. there are other commercial licenses some vary by state like "hot shots" "limo driver" and such. but most if not all the companies have decided to make it a company restriction, which i understand. showing up with a CDL means you have at least passed some basic skills and are not on your death bed... lol but not necessarily legally required to deliver a 25 foot class C motor home with no one else on board.

as for my vision, i can pass the test for the license, but i only have 1 pair of glasses and precription is too old to get new glasses made. for personal transport i can take the risk of losing or breaking these. i can always just hang out while i wait for new glasses. but to go to work i would (personal requirement) need at least 1 pair as a back up. so that means new exam/prescription and getting glasses made. cause when you need to make that delivery in 2 days, waiting a few days to replace broken glasses wont make your new boss very happy.

but it would be appreciated if future response/posts were on topic instead of questioning my reasons/abilities

there may not be anymore RV delivery companies hiring non cdl driver but if someone knows of one, that is what i am looking for

I believe there is a place out of Elkhart, Indiana that hires drivers as individual contractors but you need to have insurance.

i am working on it, takes time. i asked because i thought there might be someone on this forum that might know of one and could save me some time. rather than stating the obvious google this or that or making vague statements about someone in indiana.

if you know of an actual company that hires NON CDL drivers for drive away RV deliveries and are willing to share their name, please do. that is the question. can we please stay on topic?

I live about 30 miles north of Elkhart & if you decide to tow I have the very last month of the 5.9 12 valve Cummins 12' flat bed 1 ton. I bought a 5th wheel hitch but never installed so it hasn't towed. 115k actual with great maintence & if needed a new on the crate 4000# lifr gate I'd make someone a deal. I hate to sell it but it's all going to go & then I'm going to go. I was granfathered in when CDLs came out & let mine go but still have a cheauffers licence which is 20 or 50 questiond & no road test. It get's you to 26,000 so you should be good to go with that. Years ago my flight instructor had 20 jobs to pay for college, I was his 1st student & he delivered MHs. So far this year business if down 30%+, seems either feast or famine th the RV business. If I were younger I'd be converting vans, box trucks, etc & doing solar. I have 64'x84' habger on the farm with a heated full machine shop & 40' doors 14' high.

Just FYI:

Many good optometrists can 'copy' your prescription, meaning they can make a duplicate pair of glasses by measuring the lenses you bring in. In all cases they are not supposed to simply hand you the script, but they can legally duplicate what you have. This will save you the cost of another eye exam. 

Something you might look into is the cargo van expediting business. No CDL required in most cases. Owner-ops are in demand, but so are company drivers. 

Another option is driving escort vehicles for over-dimensional loads. Training will be required for this.

OP does not want to be an owner/operator.
OP wants gigs driving RVs that need to get from place to place for whatever reason.

I hope like he'll this is on topic, but have you tried Camping World?  It seems like I read somewhere that they have their own delivery system.  Or some other big group of dealers who buy a lot of vehicles.

The posting about getting free assistance for new glasses is exactly on topic. For your convenience the quoted information below was taking directly from the initial posting in this thread. The poster is concerned about the cost of several hundred dollars for new glasses. Good vision is critical for someone who is driving property that does not belong to them.

I took a look at some of the RV transport jobs. Even with a CDL they are only paying minimum wages.
