After spending a couple of years here learning as much as I could from all of you I finally bought my van. Thanks for all of your good advice. I bought a Chevy Express 2500 and have started the insulation and panelling.
Hi to all and thanks,

Bob

Hi
I'm using the 3/4" rigid foam(foil and plastic backed) from Home Depot and then some reflectix where a bit more thickness is needed.

For paneling I'm useing 3/4" 1 x 4 pine, nice to work with.

They made me a deal I couldn't refuse so I bought a 2014 with the 6 liter V8. I took it on it's first little trip today and i got 16 mpg so I'm even happier.

Ya know pilgrim, I have been on the "verge" for several months of jut getting something new. There is nothing for sale around here used at all. How did you decide passenger or cargo? Do you know where people get high tops installed? Do you do your own work, eg, adding a fan etc? wht plans beyond insulation?

I bought a new cargo van mostly because the newer used weren't much cheaper. In San Jose, CA there's a place called Happy Vans that will do just about anything. I had them put a window in the door, it has a small slider with a screen to let in a bit of air. The rest of the work I plan on doing myself.
The plans are still evolving but pretty simple, bed storage, cooking area that will be minimal, solar and some lights. I'm having so much fun doing the work I'm trying not to get carried away and build too much.
