This one is a must for windsurfing and connecting to anything like a rail, a boom, or a tent pole. You need a knot that will allow you to make the harness line attached to the boom movable for fine adjustments. This knot demonstration is a variation on the clove hitch. I put the half hitch in the loose end as a backup that will not pull through when it is tight and wet from lake or sea water. Here, this is another Bob. Got to love the outfit. It says boat captain.

 
I was taught tons of knots when I was in scouting all the way through Eagle. Cant remember many of them, but most of the time the core knots do the trick.
