Ok so I took the plunge!
I now am the proud new owner of a 1995 Chinook Concourse with side entry and bed in the back! She has about 87k miles on her Ford 7.5L, E350, 8 cylinder engine. She needs some break and suspension work but she’s a beauty and has 400 watts of solar already installed. She even has a porcelain toilet! I’m super happy and really excited to get her fixed up and prep her for the transition into my next phase of life as a mobile nomad.
Everything in the RV systems of this little beast works 100% properly and I’m in love. I’ll take these upcoming months to get the work done mechanically and do some little interior customizations and then do a test run up to Humboldt County to visit a friend for a few days to see how she does. I’m hoping to be living in her full time this late fall.
My landlord passed away and our house is being renovated to be sold. I’ve been priced out of the Bay Area like so many others, but I’m going to use this unfortunate situation as a catalyst to launch me into a new world. I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to be able to buy this vehicle, the homelessness here is out of control and I fully realize it could have been me living in a tent under an overpass. I’m almost 56 years old and the thought of being homeless freaked me out quite a bit.
I’ve raised my grandson since birth and he’s off to college in August, so I’m free to roam. I can continue to do part time work remotely for my nonprofit organization and it’s all gonna be okay!
See yah all out there!
Peace,
Hollis
