Hello there. 38 year old. After proving to myself over the last couple years that I can make my living from anywhere (I make 3d models, sound design, editing) and decided I was tired of being trapped in an area of California that was constantly under evac. I was living in a converted shed so I'm used to a small space and budget minded living.  A few months ago I bought myself a 2007 Toyota Sienna, ripped out the mid seats and the larger part of the stow and go, built the bed and trunk out, added some solar, a good powerstation, mini-fridge and a PVC based table.  Temporarily based out of the house I grew up in in Illinois and plotting to hit the road for some short runs here soon, then fulltime by late winter/spring.  Looking forward to attending some meetups once covid is a bit more under control (things are looking relatively positive atm so we'll see).  Anyway. I'll be lurking and hopefully contributing. Later!

Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hello Aitolda - welcome to the forum. You sound sensible in testing the waters with short trips in the beginning and seeing how it works out and then you’ll know what you need. I keep repeating this by advice to others and it’s not original with me but one of the first things you need to do is stop spending. The more you have in savings the better you’ll feel about your traveling on the road. Don’t buy anything that’s not absolutely necessary. Sounds like I’m an old man trying to tell a young person what to do, well I guess that’s true. they’ll be plenty of advice on here your job will be to determine what is right for you. Again welcome.

Welcome (almost) neighbor, you have a good plan and a good van!
Best of luck and happy trails!
