It seems that people have been thinking about making houses out of their cars since cars were first made...

And here are some others:

(This maker was in Denver. I wonder if he eventually started the Red Dale company; I see a lot of RVs on my local Craigslist for that brand.)

And this one, which I'm not sure is all that old:

Meg

Those vehicles are all awesome! I especially like the ones that look like trains. And I was sitting here thinking "well before that, it was covered wagon," and then he cracks that joke. Imagine crossing the Rockies in a covered wagon!

Ha! So, started looking through those (Haven't gotten through them all yet, but I came across this on google. Tuckerbag, this is what you need!

Saab_9-3_Camper.jpg

EDIT: Just found some info on it:

The Toppola Camper is an extraordinary accessory, popular in Sweden among hatchback Saab 99 and ‘classic’ 900 owners. It converts their cars into an instant ‘campervan’, complete with cooker, heater, rear standing room and a double bed. The entire module, resembling an automotive ‘rucksack’, is fitted by removing the car’s rear door.

Why can't we have something like this made in the USA?
