The only decals I have on my van are the ones that say "VIPER" as in the car alarm. Yes, there really is a Viper alarm installed. ;-)

I find it utterly amazing that this ex-cop recommends using bear spray as self defense (many recommend wasp spray too). It is AGAINST THE LAW to even carry either for human-vs-human self defense and will get you arrested.

And he also recommends a fire extinguisher? So, after you have coated the bad guy in harmless white stuff, he will beat you to do death with the empty canister. You are at greater risk (9 times greater) of being beaten to death with that blunt object than a gun.

Learn to safely use and carry a gun or don't carry anything at all. It is legal in all 50 states (and DC now) while bear/wasp spray is illegal in all 50 (and DC). Pepper spray and tasers are heavily regulated and illegal in many areas across the US.

And NO... do NOT tell the officer you are carrying a gun unless state law mandates that you do (which is rare). He has no reason or right to know and it will only make him more uncomfortable. Have you read about the Philly Mom who did just that and got arrested and is not facing 3 years in jail? Even the Judge said "you should NOT have told the truth".

“The judge tried to tell me that telling the truth messed me up, my life up and the cop said the same thing. Me opening my mouth and speaking out he said I’m one out of ten people that spoke up and was honest and that got me in trouble,” she said.

There is some real bad advice given in this article.
