Insulating a van with a curved/uneven surface with polyiso

Many people have reported hot glue failing over time.

May not be a problem for most if a luan liner's holding stuff in.

And I would think a heat gun would melt it right out if you wanted to remove it.

Personally I would just to a great job insulating "permanently" but with plain panelling; make it look nice, doubt that would reduce resale value, may even be a plus.
 
Start with the thin sheets of foil backed insulation, then a vapor barrier, use wide aluminum tape for gaps, 1 inch rigid insulation segmented to fit tape down with more foil tape last layer whatever you choose ( boat carpet, paneling, bead board, ect)
