I was listening to the News this morning and it was reported that there are 80 million people affected by this winter storm. Rarely is anything said about the cross section of those same people. So I looked up this data wondering how it
would reflect on those of us Nomads who may be living out in the storm.

Where do you see yourself in these numbers ?

Many dogs love snow. Not so much the cat except when hunting birds which overrides getting cold paws.

Cammie (the pooch) LOVES romping thru the snow, her little short legs are adequate if the snow is less than about 6 inches or so..above that and she just hops like a rabbit.

The cat, Zipper, she wont go out in it voluntarily, until I carry her out there, then she's fine, she discovers the little critters like bunnies and mice are everywhere! She forgets about the snow and just gets down to 'bidness'...

Of course the snow is mostly gone now, a few traces here and there....it's still quite cold...19 degrees this morning.

It is difficult to predict what the weather is like in Western Southern Arizona. That is because it has several strong influencers at work. Storms coming out of the north from Canada, weather coming in from Weat from California off the Pacific and weather coming in from further south from the Pacific down in Mexico. It does not see as many storms coming in from the East, those do not happen very often. This December and January there has been a fair amount of gusty wind from the North NE which is a cooler temperature wind. But it has not brought any rain with it and there is no rain predicted in the next week ahead when the wind is still mostly from the north.
That is a different weather pattern than winter of 2023 and 2024 when the wind and rain came out of the West from that very active atmospheric river system that was flooding California. That state is just not getting a break. First too much rain and high elevation snows, now this winter it is hot dry winds spreading devastating fires. Like some of those biblical tales of punishments on the lands and peoples. Hopefully major earthquakes and tsunamis are not in the next round for California.
