Thinking about a cargo van. Only thing I know for sure is 2 marine batterys wired into the power system so the alternator recharges them and I'll have power for lights

Hi Tedrow42! Welcome and hope you find what ya need here. Pics when ya get to the actual conversion!

I work on the river only home 2 weeks at a time. Most likely just gonna be a mattress with some odd ball stuff. When I get home I'll be going out in my kia sportage to see how well vehicle camping goes.

Our conversion is going to be real simple too. Simple, but hopefully organized and with everything we need. Simple is good!

Welcome!

I hope you river is far in the south so you aren't car camping without good heat and insualtion. We'll be interested to hear how that experiment goes.

Welcome.... There is no right or wrong idea, plan or choice, it's all part of the adventure. Enjoy!

Hey there. I just bought a cargo van about three weeks ago and have started to convert it. I am going to have to live in it four days a week. Cold climate, so I am going to try to make it fairly plush. Still though, it is an interesting concept to use for cheap living.

Greetings and welcome to the forum. I would recommend a 3/4 ton van. After the 2 batteries, (about 120 lbs), you may want some water, (10 gallons is 83 lbs), add cabinets, food, camping equipment, and soon a 1/2 ton model is at it's max rating. Sure you can overload them a bit, but the brakes may not work so well.
