Thinking about a cargo van. Only thing I know for sure is 2 marine batterys wired into the power system so the alternator recharges them and I'll have power for lights

I work on the river only home 2 weeks at a time. Most likely just gonna be a mattress with some odd ball stuff. When I get home I'll be going out in my kia sportage to see how well vehicle camping goes.

Hey there. I just bought a cargo van about three weeks ago and have started to convert it. I am going to have to live in it four days a week. Cold climate, so I am going to try to make it fairly plush. Still though, it is an interesting concept to use for cheap living.

Greetings and welcome to the forum. I would recommend a 3/4 ton van. After the 2 batteries, (about 120 lbs), you may want some water, (10 gallons is 83 lbs), add cabinets, food, camping equipment, and soon a 1/2 ton model is at it's max rating. Sure you can overload them a bit, but the brakes may not work so well.
