Hello everyone, my name's Vince. I don't have a rig yet, but am on the hunt. I'm in the western VA area currently stuck there for the time being. Anywho have a good one everybody!

Welcome to the CRVL forums Vince ! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hey Vince welcome to the forum. I thought I heard that handle before? What part of Western Virginia? My daughter lives in Far Eastern KY, so I like to spend time there. Hope you find what you’re looking for.

I'm currently grounded in Clifton Forge, VA. Dealing with minimum wage and a car payment and lot rent for my matchbox. I found a rig the other day for 800 bucks but it was too far gone.

My car is a 2019 Nissan versa, and it is cramped. I tried to fold down the front seats, they only go so far. The back seats don't fold down at all.

I’m not familiar with the versa. But if it’s 2019 probably in good shape. You could actually remove the backseat and the back of the backseat so your feet could go into the trunk to sleep. I’ve seen that done on other small cars don’t know about this one. The old saying is where there’s a will there’s a way. I always like to say where there’s a will there’s a lawyer. Good luck

If you are selling the Nissan, you should hang onto the seats. But if you are keeping the Nissan and its 35mpg, you could remove seats as needed for comfortable sleeping.

Tryi g to pay off a car on minimum wage is a tough one. Hopefully you will be abllebto hustle some side jobs and get out from under that particular loan and if needed into one for a vehicle better suited for full time living such as a minivan.

Didn't take too long, rear seat is out. I reinstalled the rear seat cushion. Now I'm gonna go on a test run on my next day off. Any ideas on what to bring for a two night trial? I'm a tall guy so most of my trunk is spoken for on account of my long legs. And where do you get reflectix?

I am trying to get out there myself. I have 20 ft. Toyhauler. If u able and willing to help complete my trailer. Maybe u can ride all and stay with me till u find some thing. As I am a 76 year old lady. And I don't know how to do what I want. I have 2 twin beds we can put up. Let me know. Do u have income?

Vinny, I just saw that there’s a video on HOWA’’s site addressing living in very small cars like yours it may be worth a look.

Welcome to the CRVL Forum  :)

In my Van Conversion site below there is a link (at the top) to setting up a "Bug Out" car.
You may find some ideas in it for mods that could be of benefit to you.

I've seen people who have purchased small retired U-Haul trailers and fixed them up for cheap.
Scrounging, scavaging, yard sales, and flea marketing should be the skills you will want to develop
now. You can outfit yourself for cheap if you go about it right.

I started with a small Ford Van 6 cyl engine & 3 spd manual.  Later got a hitch for it and bought a small
econo car and got a tow bar for it.  If you had an old used 4 X 8 trailer you could set up a bed in it, build
a side door on it, and rig an awning over it you'd be set. You could deal with the inside of the car any way you want to where it will serve you best.

Just read the various topics here and you'll gain ideas and see what is possible.  Consider your first need to be safety, then your comfort in your rig.

Used 5x8's are around that may have had four or five owners.  Most have been painted over bought for moving or used for construction projects and resold.

I once had a young guy come to me with one of these he had painted white.  He wanted me to letter it and paint his business logo on it.  He was an amateur magician working kids birthday parties and such.
I explained to him he could pick up auctioneering and work the flea markets and storage building sales
where people want to get rid of stuff.  (pickers who clean out garages & basements for salvage,  and then take the good stuff and leave him to sell what's left to those who want the thrill of small change auction bidding employed him when he started)   A few months later he returned to me wanting to
make a panel he could put over the magician logo and display the "auctioneer" logo he wanted.
His phone number, email, and website URL were already lettered on his trailer.

This just to show you are only limited by your creativity.

Do you have any equity in the 2019 vehicle? I’d look into a mini van or something and get outta that matchbox and the smaller car... even if you need a storage building for some of your stuff. Are you in a colder part of West Virginia? If your minimum wage you might be better off looking into seasonal jobs that might pay more and move to warmer climates. There are videos on this and many good ideas. I don’t know your needs, but these nomads here are amazingly resourceful. I have a landing zone myself, but it’s cold and I totally enjoy the road. I sleep better in my truck then anywhere. Watch some van life videos... don’t stay stuck! If your still able to work and able to go on the road. I honestly don’t think you need to stay on the minimum wage thing. Temporary seasonal jobs could give you more chance of time off also. I’m going to retire from something where I’ll get to put money in an emergency account. This also is pretty important to have. Always unexpected expenses. Start saving every penny you can. You can do this...

Edit... your getting some great ideas. I see the last few posts being very informative that weren’t there when I started typing... it’s all up to you. Be encouraged!

Where in TX are you? I don't want to hijack this thread so I'll send this by private message and you can answer there but I'm in Southwestern Oklahoma, currently, but headed to AZ soon, next week, perhaps.

I'm pretty much a Solo Wolf but I can help some with ya getting an initial set up to work from and we can slowly caravan West. I'm headed to Phoenix area for a few days then to the Colorado River area, Yuma/Quartzsite.

We can get ya hooked up with some folks out there. You'll be in pretty good hands then!

Welcome Vince!!
Took me 4 yrs but I'm sure you'll beat that by a long shot, haha.
