I worked at WPAFB for 10 years under the University of Calif. Irvine contract. When the contract was over, husband said lets move. I did so, he worked at for USDA, I didn't get a job and started having kids.
Moved back to Ohio and we started a very successful business together. He didn't want me to work, just raise the kids. I did work part time in the business for 20 years. He refused to pay me as an employee for all those years. I was to passive and unable to stand on my own two feet and insist, not that it would have mattered with him I suppose.
I should be showing for SS 30 years of employment instead of 10 years. I should get around 600.00 a month at 62 1/2 or whatever the age is. I'm still a few years away from 'retirement'. That really blows.

edit to add: point being, not everything is under control.
