I'll be in a Ford Escape and there is not a lot of space. Is there a way to attach hooks or other attachment points to the sides/ceiling without ripping off the plastic or headliner materials? Right now there are just hand grips above the passenger side doors and over the front passengers' sides.

Also, is it legal to drive with things covering up the windows from the inside? Maybe I don't even have to worry about ^^.

Thanks!

Obviously the holding power depends on the screw fasteners and/ or glue chosen and the material they are attached to, but the image links above should give you some ideas and what the products are called

I've got rope cleats everywhere in my Van and bungee cord criss crossed everywhere between them.

Thanks Sternwake. So you can just screw right through the plastic? (I'm fairly clueless about the auto body part of vehicles.) How large of a screw can I use? Any specific type?

I hesitate to make further recommenations without knowing the surface and what is behind it, and your skill level with tools, and how much weight it is to support

But a fastener just short enough, and with enough threads where one can get a couple turns on it, at the minimum.

I would recommend stainless fasteners, with a machine thread, predrilled carefully, and let the machine thread cut its own threads while pushing against the plastic with good force making sure the screw does not wobble.

like a 10-32, which is 32 thread per inch and one should be able to get 3 full turns or more through plastic 1/8 inch thick.

Do not overtighten or you will have to step up to a thicker screw like a 12-32. I am also not sure how much holding power it would have.

If the weight is a factor then screw and glue could be used, but super glue discolors some plastics and might not stick very well to metal.

i think lots of experimentation would be required to find a suitable solution that is strong enough
