I just got a dokio portable 300w portable system. It comes w it's own controller, which people recommend replacing. Which I'm doing, but I don't no how to connect to the sae connector on it. And I don't want to cut off the connector. I tried a bullet connector. But it's apparently wrong. The female fits snuggly, but the male is to small in diameter. Um no jokes.... Although who could resist...

Anyone no what connectors fit sae? There must be a few people who've faced this. The sae seems like a POS...  Actually.  On the dokio, I estimate the wire is.... 16 gauge. And with that connector? My current solution is to tie into the sae with another cannibalized one. So that's all 16 gauge wire for a 300 w system, but for a foot in length.

thanks, b&c

i guess that's the way to do it... i guess it'll work, but i have to say i don't understand why a 300w panel is sold with wire that seems so thin, and connectors that seem questionable - at least to me. not that i no much about this stuff........ if i can't get this locally i'll just cannibalize some sae connector. i'll take a look at the thicker gauge wires that have sae connectors........

My RV has a Zamp solar port on the side to connect to one of their portable solar panels (which I don't have). I bought a 10 AWG 2 pin SAE cable and cut one of the ends off. The bare wire then went to my controller.

Make sure you check polarity; Zamp is opposite so I had to make sure I had positive and negative going swapped into my controller.

ty...yes, i read sae polarity is all over the place...........  these are my first panels... i thought, wow, they're so portable and small. but once they're unfolded they suddenly become quite large and floppy... right now i'm leaning 'em against two saw horses......... i'll have to think of something else out there....
