I plan to retire and take SS at 62 next year and want to hit the road in a van or maybe a Class C.&nbsp; I don't own much, so I will rely mainly on SS to live on and would like to do some traveling. I'm divorced and have some health problems, so I won't be interested in finding a redhot mama next year but it would be nice to find someone to split (mainly gas) expenses with.<br><br>So I have this idea to install a hi-top on my Dodge van and convert it into a camper van but also buy a small travel trailer. Then I would try to find a congenial lady that would have use of the trailer while I stayed in the van as we traveled and camped at Quartzsite, national forests,Walmarts, etc. We both could save money and I&nbsp; think that it would be a good opportunity for someone to try out the mobile lifestyle without having to invest a lot first.&nbsp; I've done a fair amount of camping and van travel, so I feel that I can also offer 'seasoned traveler' experience. Another possibility would be just seasonal snowbird travel or heading to the mountains for July and Aug. and keeping my apartment. Splitting the travel costs could make this possible and I sure couldn't afford to do it otherwise. It also might be a good idea to maintain a homebase, I suppose.<br><br>Thoughts, ladies?<br><br><br><br>

Always sit down to pee. He may never notice if he really is slow. (please slowday, we like you and are just putting you on, steve would be obvious even if&nbsp;those cheap &nbsp;wigs he wears&nbsp;didn't come from WalMart.

i think this is a great idea, and know it is done lots more than people think. there are "couples" traveling together who are in the same boat...retired, cash poor, health issues....who hook up for the fun and convenience of doing it without "doing it", if you get my drift.<div><br></div><div>sex is not all it's cracked up to be, not for everybody anyway (who is that hissing and booing???). people may be uninterested in sex, or unable to have it, but still want companionship. i know alot of older couples who get married who never have sex, but they happily cured their "lonely" problem. i think that is wonderful!</div><div><br></div><div>now let's talk about this Steve in a skirt thing.....&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>ETA: and dragonfly, you are awesome. red hot mama indeed!!!!</div><div><br></div>

Actually twoknives, I have spoken to one of the women about something like this on a trial run. Other matters have cropped up. We need to pursue this on our own at this point, not speaking for her, but I think she is like me, we need to prove ourselves and our abilities&nbsp;first.<br>I would diffinately consider this sort of thing at some point in the future. One would be fortunate to have a travelling companion that you weren't attached at the hip with.<br><P>&nbsp;</P>

Another selling point is that I'm half Asian so you know I'll do it for less money and make it last longer. I'm just sayin'<div><br></div>

In all non-skirt wearing seriousness. I'm not sure that I'm ready to have a companion outside of my k9(s). If I meet the right girl, sure I'll jump at, on, with, whatever she wants. Since that's not likely to happen anytime soon. I have been toying with the idea of finding like minded travelers to caravan with from place to place though.&nbsp;Something along the lines of tribal migration during the seasons. Maybe not even stay in the exact same place so much as keeping within driving distance of each other. I know some people like to be alone, but still have friends/help close.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>Just a thought/idea that I haven't fully formed yet.</div><div><br></div>

Bug off Steve/sl1966...I think slowday has presented it perfectly and if I was a retired woman I'd sure want to meet him and see if that would work....damn, you already got the skirt and wig and are ready to roll...I gotz to be quicker of foot!!<br><br>Slowday:&nbsp; Love your concept and your presentation is perfect.&nbsp; I hope some smart lady takes you up on that. Put the word out there...maybe post some different places...I hesitate to say Craigslist since that's getting wonky lately, but.....<br><br>Keep us posted... I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER....George Peppard from the A-Team....<br><br>Dust<br><br>

<div><br></div><div>i think the traveling separately to test your mettle is a good thing....it was important to me to do that, especially with the fears i had dealt with. TONS of them. i have camped next to "newbies" a night or two, enough for them to feel comfortable to go the next step. any way is right if it works for you!</div><div><br></div><div>Bob and i were discussing this not too long ago, and he said the best thing can be to remain attached by a really long bungee cord. i like that!&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Steve/sl1966:&nbsp; I have a request of you. Please start another thread about your idea of a caravan community as this is something I've thought of too.&nbsp; And I think your idea has real merit. As things collapse and anarchy takes hold....this will be a very prescient idea. Naysayers need look only to the world's foremost city: London...who would have thought anarchy in the truest sense of the word would ever take hold there...and I'm afraid it's just the beginning. <br><br>Anyway, a great idea worthy of discussion I would love to see...hope you flesh this idea out. I had mentioned a caravan a few months back (I think I called it "the Eastern Contingent"&nbsp;to travel out to the RTR.&nbsp; I don't know how to start a thread but one would be welcomed by several of us. There are a lot of us from this part of the country-OH,VA PA etc.

<div><br></div><div>Not me :)</div><div><br></div><div>I plan on traveling alone as is, but getting to cross paths with friends old and new is always Welcome. The potential of having a regular traveling companion w/benefits is awesome in of itself. I mean if both parties are agreeable to that arrangement. Even if there was no sex involved, I think being able to share experiences is always a plus.</div><div><br></div><div>Slowday ... &nbsp;Good luck, but I'm sure you'll find someone willing to travel with. You're a cool guy! No, the skirt and wig only come on for you on special occasions.</div><div><br></div>

(Hiss, boo.)
