I have been hunting and thinking and now I found one that I like a lot. But then what to do?
I can get this vehicle for 15,000$ but then my purse is also empty.
What does a insecure Dane do?
Getting an RVreport will cost 500-1200$ that is not possible!

Maxine, I think that's too much money to spend on a 2001. Please don't leave yourself without funds, Most RV stores only charge about 100 dollars for an inspection.

I would stick to your original limit of $10,000 and wait until you find one for that money.

That one looks nice but it has the V10 and it will drink the fuel.

Broaden your search even if you have to travel a few miles to find one that you will be comfortable with and still have money in reserve.

Read Gunny's post several times.

And always remember that the ASKING price is not usually the SELLING price.

Personally I would go older even still and find a good unit for half of your reserves. You still have to insure it, gas it up, stock it up and feed yourself. Blow a tire..ouch. Need a tow...oh boy. Want to stay in a nice campground for a while with hook ups and a pool, that can get real expensive fast.

Maxine, if you were to find something in southern California it is a very short bus or plane ride to there. Hire a cab for a few hours but have a few that interest you.. And Jim is correct, save for the unexpected.

When you find one sign up for Good Sam or a service that will provide help for you.

I have followed your travels closely and want very much for you to be happy with your choice...But not broke.

I can see why you want that, but it would be an emotional purchase, not a logical one...but I suspect you already know this :)

Maxine, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't spend the bulk of your funds on a vehicle. Besides registration and insurance there will be other expenses that you can't foresee until you're actually in the vehicle. And you will have to eat and buy gas.

Hi everybody and thanks so much :)
I felt SO alone. It is a lifetime decision (I will properly be in need of another vehicle later on, but then it will be easy :)
It is necessary to talk to somebody when in doubt and there I believe in this forum :)

You are so right. I slept like a rotisserie chicken and realized that it would be to stupid to empty out everything.
I have thanked NO to the offer!

BUT I did learn something: I did drive the RV around the block and it went easy. It took away some of my anxiety about this BIG machines.
And I think I need a proper bed. So I am back to the corner bed!

I am back on the hunt. I am in Phoenix now and will go to Quartzside later. If any of you are in the area and want to pamper me with a talk and a smile, let me know with a text message on: 702-901-2042

Have a sunny and smiling day.

That minnie winnie Gunny posted would be a good fit, I think, if it's in good shape, too bad it's in Cali
and I'm with you ion not wanting to sleep over the cab

For the best bargain from read forums forever

1) used RV van with too many miles and not enough loving care. Something over ten years old, that you flip a coin on. You might find a ridiculous bargain at $5000 to $10,000. if you are lucky you might find something less than this, but usually has lots of problems (front end linkage and alignment and steering, and brakes and muffler and tires are junk?)
2) get a SUV used for $5000 (you can sleep or store things in the back) and buy a used RV trailer for less than $5000. The SUV like trucks out there are good for towing class 2 weight trailers (really small trailers)
3) save forever and hunt forever until you find the right match of emergency funds remaining after purchases and repairs (keep $5000 to $10,000 available for needs).

I have been into several 25ft Class A's and I must admit. I find them scary big...
It out not to be any worse then a Class C but when inside them, they ....
What is the driving difference in a C and a A?
I will drive a lot so I need comfort in myself about the vehicle :)

In a class A you don't have the hood in front of you and you have to learn to keep it in the proper lane. It seems bigger but it's not. I guess you had already talked to the people about the one above or at least their dealership.

Unlike the class C you don't have the overhead area and if you weren't going to be using it anyway why have it? I'm not sure which is easier to drive, I haven't driven a class C but I'm sure someone will respond with a better answer than me.

All I can do is wish you the best and hope you find your ride..

Foot for foot, not much difference at all between an A and a C.

A 25' A will have a different turning radius than a 25' C because of the wheel base, but neither of them are going to turn on a quarter much less a dime. You'll end up going around the block rather than trying to turn it around... :D

The only other thing is where your 4 corners are...in a C the front end is way out front of you because of the hood. In an A, you feel that you're sitting right up front looking straight down on the roadway.

A typical van is about 20' long so you're only 5' longer than a regular van...no it won't fit in a single parking spot but then with my hitch hauler on back, neither do I.

If you didn't find the C THAT scary to drive, then neither will the A except for the big front window and the wide open view.

That Class A that Gunny found looks to be a good deal - gas engine, pics show it to be in good shape, fairly low but not ridiculously low mileage.

Since the dealer got it as a trade-in, you should be able to wheel and deal on it down to the high 8's maybe 9 even.

For a 25'er that is nice - not only a full size bed but a sofa and chair as well....I think I could actually learn to like that.

And the mileage you're going to get on either of a 25' C or A is not going to be that much different...it won't be any where near close to what a van gets but you're hauling a full size home around!
