Hello,
Name is Sam, currently house dwelling in California. I found out about this site last year in early spring before my 18th birthday when the thought of having to bust my *** everyday for barely anything disgusted me and made me rethink my whole life. A friend of mine talked of living in a van after getting booted by his mom but didn't really pursue it but it brought back all of my childhood fantasies of having a hippy van with a water bed in the back.

Vandwelling sounded very appealing to me so i decided to google it and found the cheaprvliving website and found out I could do so much with a van than i ever knew possible. Ive been looking at the site for almost a year now and just realized there was a forum.

As of right now I'm a highschool dropout, unemployed and renting a room out of a house with a few other people there for $480 a month. Trying to get enrolled in college now for the spring semester. Since my dad is a retired vet now he gave me the rest of his military benefits which as im told should leave me with lots of extra money each month so hopefully I can finally get my license and buy a van within the next year.

Not really the best picture after having slept on the concrete for a few days being all dirty.

Man, I can relate to that!! That's exactly how I feel. Sounds like vandwelling is the perfect thing for you. Many people do it while going to college. I know you feel indestructible while you are young, but the future comes on you soon enough so it is still important to think ahead and do some planning. Graduating high school or getting a GED seems like a very high priority to me and living in a van may make that easier.

We wish you the best of luck and let us know how we can help!
Bob

Haha thanks for the kind words, it does sound very perfect. Funny thing is I actually noticed just today how theres quite a few others there are living the lifestyle in college when i passed the campus while running errands and saw some RVs in the lot.

Thanks for the concerns as well it's also a priority for me too, I was going to complete it but unfortunately my 18th was right around the beginning of my senior year. I am going to get it though, thankfully at the college i registered to there's a separate school for "continued education” that i enrolled in that lets you get a high school diploma so hopefully i can get that within the next year.

Really liking the forums so far.
