Hi all, I'm Jool, from Texas. I'm not yet ready to start fulltiming, but it is definitely in the future plans. Not necessarily stealth - although that would be great - but this is a good place to learn so much.

My main problem (as I see it) is that I do earn a decent living working online (in the field of writing/editing, stuff like that) and I'm worried about having good internet connection at all times. So that is holding me back at this point. Ironic, isn't it, that my work is completely non-location specific, yet I have to have internet to be able to work? I use over 12 gig a month in my work, so I'm not talking dial-up speed here.

Anyway, that's why I'm here, to learn from all of you, and do whatever it takes to fit my way of life into that of being a bonafide 'rubbertramp'. Thanks so much for all of the valuable information available to everyone choosing this lifestyle.

--Jool

Glad to see you here on the Forum Jool!!! This is a great place for info and ideas.

Technomadia has a great post about how they use multiple pipes to get the job done. Sounds like you'll need the same setup with the amount of data that you're pushing.

Thanks! I'll check 'em out. Hi to Bridgette for me!

Hi Jool, welcome.
While I can't quite answer the question of uninterrupted Internet, ( we have lousy cell service where I am let alone Internet), but I CAN tell you that my wife got a message to me in the chicamunga Natl forest, 10 miles from the nearest paved road. Someone there had a mifi device that worked well, so I am sure it is possible.

Definatly check into millenicom -- I have their 20gb/month plan. 4g is only in limited areas for now -- mine is 3g only.

Thanks! I'll check into millenicom. And yes, I have a Verizon mifi that I switched to, thinking I would get 4G - and now I find that one has to be in a 4G area to actually get 4G. LOL. Live and learn. I live in a somewhat rural area, (but not THAT rural) and get 3G speed sometimes. But this is good training, I figure, for future RV life.

Les, that is cool that you got the message even being out there in the Chicamunga NF!

Hi Jool! Welcome! There are plenty of people making a livng, through the internet, while living on he road full time. Don't let it hold you back!

Thanks, Cyndi!

Welcome Jool. Good luck with the internet thing! I drove a big truck for almost 19 years and that was by far my BIGGEST problem. The only phone service that I could get that was pretty much guaranteed to work,(in most areas), was verizon. I could get internet service at the truck stops sometimes but some of them charge. It is going to be a challenging thing for you to find someone that has service in most places. Happy hunting!
