We came up with this one summer when we were sleeping in the back of our Volvo station wagon, traveling in several states.

We bought the kind of plastic container that is meant to hold pasta. I took the whole top off and he only had to open the flip top meant for the pasta. I'm sure you can all imagine how we each used it. I sewed a cloth tote bag for it and we took it into restrooms to empty and rinse.

Zana, I love a woman who isn't shy to talk about the practicalities of life even if they aren't "polite!"

It must have a pretty wide mouth since in that area women are often not the best "aims." My girlfriend uses a large Folgers coffee can and I use an old liquid detergent bottle.

It all works out the same in the end though!!

It was a few inches across and a good bit longer, those are the dimensions of the top. I liked it better than a coffee can but hey, whatever you have on hand is the best!

I use a heavy duty 44 oz plastic Big Gulp cup with a snapping lid. Which I rarely need. An ex-girlfriend twice used one of her baby's diapers, rather than walk 200' to a bathroom at night.

So "dumb" question here: How do you deal with the pour spout in the detergent bottle? I tried pulling it out with pliers, with no luck.
Thanks,
Vickie

I mine didn't have one. But now that you mention it most of them do. I don/t know why it didn't. It's Seventh Generation detergent so may be that was more environmentally friendly.

The spout can be removed from a detergent bottle, but then the cap doesn't fit. I wish the spout was wider.

That container to the right of the water gallon is what I use at night; big wide lid that screws tightly to prevent unwanted leaks.

Thanks guys! My husband cut the spout out of a Tide jug and leak checked the lid. It's all good. I like the handle and the jug fits just right in the door well. (I have one of those large mouthed plastic jars from a potty past. It worked great in the bottom of the bucket loo with a canning funnel on top. A couple of vanning ladies shared that with me once upon a time.)
