I really enjoyed this BBC video called American Nomads on Youtube....Not specifically about any one breed of nomad, but an across the board selection:

Bri

I saw the documentary about six months ago and really enjoyed it too. I thought the narrator was very kind to all he interviewed and understanding of their circumstances.
Okay, I just spent an hour and & a half of my life watching this, and it was...

TIME WELL SPENT! Yay! Thoroughly enjoyed this most inspirational vid! Thanx for sharing! :)

Didn't Cindy or Suanne post something about this special before?

Yep, I was right. It was Cyndi first, and then Ped. Only back then the whole thing wasn't on youtube before.

https://vanlivingforum.com/post/BBCs-quotAmerican-Nomadsquot-5601688?highlight=american+nomads

https://vanlivingforum.com/post/Documentary-American-Nomads-5655803?highlight=american+nomads

Same here and the thing I really love about it is he's lived on the road too. You know he respects the lifestyle and the people in it. Not like the fly by night reality TV casting recruiters you see here and on other similar forums. He gave a very well rounded and insightful account of what this is all about.

I think it a very good documentary also, did come out a few months back..

Documentrywire is a good site for some good stuff, although they have not added anything new for awhile..

Putz

Glad folks enjoyed....I must have missed the first go-round...I liked the attitude of the narrator/maker also and felt he hit a lot of things right on...

Especially good that he had traveling experience and his description of what he feels after about three weeks of landed life...described me to a "T"...

I really enjoyed it....

Thanks for the link, Putz...
Bri

Just finished watching it and it was wonderful... thanks for sharing HuggZ

I think the thing I liked the most was the way the Jeep lad was sleeping in his Thule roof cargo pod...

That shows me the possibility of using one for a new sidecar build! Haha! I looked up some measurements and there is one that is 80+" L X 28+" W and 16" high....I think a guy could incorporate and tarp or something. open it up, slide in and be 'home' I still would need a place for my poochie sidekick to ride and sleep..but it's doable...I love it...
bri

I enjoyed that documentary video very much! It showed quite a cross-section of people who roamed the country for a variety of reasons. I wish he had interviewed a "van dweller" all the same. It would have given him a good example of someone who had downsized to living in a van. I still enjoyed the video all the same. Some of the people he interviewed I felt sorry for but the majority of the people were positively portrayed in a positive light. It was very enjoyable.

I think I attached a picture correctly, I had some data loss, and so that appears to be the only picture I have of Pantoufle *pouts*. My baby sister is on the bike.

The story of Pantoufle:

I had just come off from being pushed in front of a train by this man doing horrible things, and was in need of a lot of empowerment in my life. A bunch of my friends rode, and told me how empowering it was to ride, so I gave it a try. They were right! really helped me thru a rough time in my life. I picked up an old bike and went thru safety classes, and rode it for about a year. Then I went searching for a ME bike.

Pantoufle is a Ducati SportClassic. He came in this silver color, but I knew that wasn't right for him, as he definitely has a girlish side to him, so he got some purple added to him, really made him proud! His name came from the movie "Chocolat", named after the imaginary friend of the little girl. He was a kangaroo. In the book Pantoufle was a bunny rabbit (assuming I remember all that correctly), and in french Pantoufle means slipper. Anyways, so Pantoufle was my 'empowerment' bike. After my accident I wasn't going to be in a place to ride him for a long time (wheelchair bound for 6 months, and was deaf and mute all of a sudden, go brain damage!) Anyways, My friend who was also in love with Pantoufle (and an experienced rider); was just getting ready to go shopping for a bike, so I sold him to her, she has taken really good care of him.

Perhaps a few words more than you wanted, sorry!

Thanks for the pic and story PeaceTara.

Sweet..nice bike and a great choice for you at the time. Wow, so sorry about all that drama and trauma! Yikes. I hope you find a complete recovery.

I hope you have a chance to ride again and I heartily recommend a sidecar rig if you attempt the road again. I have a friends with all kinds of disabilities who are able to ride again by riding a sidecar or trike rig...

Good that you found a good home for Pantoufle. I did see the movie Chocolate and remember the name.

Does your baby sister ride? She looks good on the bike....

Bri
