Thanks OP, I asked the shop repairing my trailer to check alignment. I still felt a small amount of sway with the equalizer hitch and sway attachment. Or it could just be I'm snakebit and worry for nothing.

Found a very interesting site showing how to check a trailer for axle alignment problems.  Must read for anyone with a trailer, IMNPHO:

Totally true, and thanks for posting that.

I have a relative who bought a brand new trailer last year, he went on a 4,000 mile trip cross country and back, ended up with 4 ruined tires. Why?  The crappy axle alignment from the factory. He had to pay a truck alignment shop to get it done right, and buy 4 new tires. He spent close to $800 I think, and the dealer offered nothing.

great find OP. I have seen brand new trailers out of alignment. highdesertranger

This article also explains some of the problem. It's a full page single spaced so I wont copy it here, just use the link:

Theres also a pdf from an alignment shop that describes how to check: http://www.timpte.com/cmsdocuments/faq_answer8.pdf

Suffice to say it's a problem for those who put on lots of miles, overload their rigs, hit curbs/potholes or buy a used trailer - you should get the alignment checked at least once...
