Getting started!

We plan to restore our 68 f100 fully and turn the back into bug out space. Started cutting pallet boards today to figure out the angle of cuts needed to cover the insulation and add some homieness to the back. The roof insulation will be covered by carpet.  The next step will be to mock up the boards and install the insulation.

Hell ya! Insulate the badboy and be glad they don't make em like that anymore. What motor/tranny do you have? Those trees look familiar. Phoenix?

I love them old Fords. I had a '72 1 ton dually that was a beast of a work truck. When I sold it to move out of state it had about 277,000 miles on it - not the original motor of course. The only bad thing was it had a 390 and low gears so it would only average 7.5 MPG. I did have a '77 with a 351M that averaged 16MPG even with a service body and tools. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

It has a 360 with a 4 speed manual.  Close, I live in Tucson 100 miles south of Phoenix.

I feel your gas milage pain lol.  When I first got it I only got 10 and a half miles per gallon in the city. After changing the intake and actually adding a bigger carburetor I now get 12 miles per gallon in the city. Hoping for 20 or so on the highway.

Looks great, fellow Tucsonan Make sure you put some camperseal weatherstripping between the mating surfaces of the shell and the bed. It really makes a difference in keeping the bed cool in our intense summers and when it rains, you won't have to worry about water seeping in through the cracks. I'm loving your truck so far, keep up the good work. Cheers!
