Getting paid to stay in San Diego

i was planning on heading out to the mountains, but fate gave me a way to stay for three more months. I'm staying on a "ranch" with pad, water. power, cable tv and sewer, plus getting paid to do it. Owner is going to Europe for three months and wants the place "inhabited" but not the house lived in. Perfect setup for me, free to come and go as I please, no animals to care for, and all the landscaping taken care of by the normal crew. I do have to agree not to be offsite for more than 48 hours at a time, but that I can live with. Previous owner must have had a nice RV, pad is 60 x 35 with full hookups, current owner doesn't have an RV.

Some days things just go RIGHT!

I think there may be more of these deals out there in the future, things are getting rather nasty out in the back country here in San Diego county. Border fence has moved border crossers further to the east and there are lots of high cost "ranches" out around this place. If you can live comfortably with just an extension cord and a hose there are likely even more.

One of the things I didn't mention is that my having mobility other than my rig was required. Since I have the towed it was fine by me, the owner mentioned that a truck and trailer would also have filled the bill.

I have done similar things for years, sometimes paid, sometimes not, but the perks were always good, like maybe a swimming pool or something.

This week I'm running and babysitting a fireworks stand. 10% pay comes out to usually about $5k for a weeks worth of work. In my case, it's not about the money though, it's about the good times. Same for doing Christmas trees for a month a year. The pay is great, but it's the good times that keep me doing it.
